Stupid Mexican Steals Money From Church
This event occurred on Saturday, June 18, 2005. An unknown Mexican went to my church on this date and stole money from our church! Here's the story!
I was altar serving as usual on this date and I go to a huge downtown Catholic church. At the time our regular pastor was not officiating the mass. We had the Spanish priest of the parish to do the mass that night. Boy, he is a one-of-a-kind priest. He doesn't seem to speak English perfectly, but he seems to be improving it by doing the English mass when he has the chance to.
But this night, he made the worst decision, ever. At the end of the mass, he told the congregation that a wornout woman needed money to get back to Mexico. She, actually went to the pulpit to tell this story! I WAS SHOCKED! Our regular would not allow this, EVERY. But, I knew she was a fake!!!! She told the congregation she had poor English, but it was perfect from my point of view. She said that she had six children, I only saw one. There was much more evidence, but you get the gist of it.
Many people gave her money, and the next week our regular priest told us that the woman was a scammer. He was very upset about it and I think he has sent the Spanish priest to another parish. He told us that there are people that go to very large churches with bogus stories to get money for things like booze and drugs. He proved the point to me that I was right and the congregation was WRONG about this woman.
I do hope the authorities find her and send her to jail. I don't give a (***) about what's she's going through! But, I hope God will give her the grace to do what is right for her penance and to also apologize for what she has done to so many people.
